Truth Has a Name is a quiet place for reflection, prayer, and Scripture. What you bring here is personal, often deeply so, and we treat it that way. This page explains — in plain language — what information the app holds, what it is used for, and what never happens with it.
What we hold
- Your account — your email address, the name you asked to be called, and your sign-in method. Sign-in is handled by Clerk, our authentication provider; we never see or store your password.
- What you write and record — your questions, reflections, prayers, saved verses, and anything you choose to share with the people alongside you. This content belongs to you and exists so the app can hold your journey; nobody browses it.
- Your preferences — Bible translation, reading voice, where you are in your faith journey, notification choices.
Who processes it for us
A few carefully chosen services do specific jobs on our behalf:
- OpenAI generates the companion's replies and transcribes voice input. Your messages are sent to it for that purpose only; under the API terms we use, they are not used to train its models.
- ElevenLabs turns written words into the reading voice.
- Clerk manages sign-in and account security.
- SendGrid delivers the emails you've opted into.
- Google Cloud Storage holds any images you attach.
- Railway hosts the app and its database.
What never happens
- Your data is never sold, and never used for advertising.
- Your conversations are never used to train AI models.
- Our own analytics are aggregate counts only — how many reflections happened, never what was said in them.
- Nothing you write is visible to anyone else unless you deliberately share it — and sharing always shows you exactly who will see it first.
A word about difficult moments
If a message suggests someone may be in crisis, the app may quietly show support resources alongside its reply. That check reads only the single message in front of it, and our records keep a count that support was shown — never the words that prompted it.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account at any time from Settings, in the app or on the web. Deletion is immediate and permanent: your account, conversations, reflections, prayers, and shares are removed from our database, and your sign-in identity is deleted. There is no recovery.
